Mike joined New Directions as a consultant in 2001, after 28 years in marketing, sales and management at several companies in the consumer products sector. He became president of New Directions in 2007. A graduate of the College of the Holy Cross, Mike earned an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth. Before New Directions, he was chief executive officer of Roxy.com, Inc., chief executive of the Photo Division at Nashua Corporation, and president of Wesson/Peter Pan Foods, a Conagra Company. He earlier held senior marketing positions at Hunt Wesson, H. P. Hood and Chesebrough-Pond's USA. Mike is a director of AMICA Mutual Insurance Co. and serves on the boards of The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Nashua, Habitat for Humanity of North Central Massachusetts, and the Boston Minuteman Council of the Boy Scouts.

Dave is a nationally recognized authority on creating meaningful alternatives to retirement. Educated at Northwestern University (BA) and New York University (MBA), he worked for Johnson & Johnson in marketing. He then spent 12 years in executive recruiting, most recently at Korn/Ferry International, before starting New Directions in 1986. Dave is the author of Portfolio Life, published in 2006 by John Wiley & Sons (Jossey-Bass). He speaks widely and has been quoted in the national media, often stressing that careers and financial assets are only part of a larger search for purpose and legacy. Dave is an adviser to the MIT AgeLab and a trustee of the U.S.S. Constitution Museum and Andover-Newton Theological School. He also served as an officer in the U.S. Navy. Dave created the Foundation for New Directions, where client volunteers mentor low-income individuals seeking new jobs or self-employment.

Jeff helped launch New Directions in 1986 and was president through 2007. Prior to New Directions, Jeff was in executive search and was instrumental in establishing Korn/Ferry International's Boston office. Over the years, Jeff has worked with hundreds of clients in a wide variety of functions and has an especially rich track record helping clients in law, health care, general corporate, and not-for-profit, including higher education. He began his career at the Continental Group in industrial relations and sales management. Jeff received bachelor's and master's degrees in economics from the University of Cincinnati. As a trustee of the Foundation for New Directions, which helps underemployed and homeless adults find work, Jeff has worked with the YMCA and the New England Center for Homeless Veterans. He has also been actively involved with the Boston Economic Club, the New England-Canada Business Council, the Boston Study Group, and Habitat for Humanity.

Patricia is leader of New Directions' Business Development Team and also guides clients through transition with a particular focus on strategic networking. She consults with corporations and individuals to help customize services to support their needs and goals. She was formerly with Arthur D. Little Company. Patricia earlier taught high school and has been an independent video producer. Patricia holds a BS from the University of Rhode Island and attended Boston University's Public Communications Institute.
She is active in The Boston Club and the Human Resource Leadership Forum, and serves on the board of directors of Horizons for Homeless Children and the advisory board of ESC of New England.

Sam joined New Directions in 2004 after 16 years in executive search, most recently as a senior partner at Heidrick & Struggles where he helped find management talent for the portfolio companies of private equity firms. Earlier, he was with Russell Reynolds Associates. Before moving into executive search, Sam worked in product and business unit management at H.J. Heinz and directed corporate marketing strategy at Reebok International, Inc. Sam has a BA from Yale University, an MBA from Boston University, and served as a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy. He has served on a number of nonprofit boards and has contributed business skills to town government in his community.

Joan has worked with senior executives for more than 25 years, helping them to achieve their personal and career goals. Prior to joining New Directions, she ran her own leadership coaching firm for 12 years. Before that, she was a principal at the Hay Group, regional manager of Ernst & Young's start-up human resource healthcare consulting practice, and a senior consultant at Wm. M. Mercer, specializing in organizational development. Joan earned an MBA from Harvard Business School and a PhD in psychology from Smith College.

Mark has over 20 years experience helping leaders in major corporations transform themselves and their organizations. He was formerly a senior consultant with the Hay Group providing guidance in the areas of executive coaching, leadership development, talent management, and senior team effectiveness. Prior to that, Mark founded Shepard Consulting Group which focused on executive coaching, motivational speaking, and action learning. He has also taught courses in leadership and international management at Boston University's School of Management. Mark earned a ThD from Boston University with a research focus on leadership. He also holds an MDiv from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and a BA in sociology from Wheaton College (IL).

Bill has 25-plus years of experience in career assessment, organizational development and executive coaching. Widely known for patient and insightful listening, Bill graduated from Brown University and earned a doctorate in psychology from Boston University where he has been an assistant professor and clinical instructor. Bill received his clinical training at Massachusetts General Hospital where he was a fellow in psychology. He also consults to professional partnerships, small businesses, and family enterprises on team building, succession planning, and conflict resolution.

Carol is a member of the Business Development Team. Prior to joining New Directions, Carol was the founder and director of the Center for Women & Enterprise in Rhode Island. She was also the founder and president of the Rhode Island Executive Women's Golf Association and received national recognition from EWGA as the recipient of the Canon Businesswoman of the Year Award. Carol earned an MBA from Babson College and is a graduate of the Center for Creative Leadership. She is an active member of the Human Resource Leadership Forum and the Northeast Human Resources Association.

A professional librarian, Claire manages the New Directions research library. She provides research support and training to clients seeking to identify and pursue opportunities. Claire has 25 years' experience as a business librarian, having previously worked for First Annapolis Consulting, Texaco, Sunkist Growers and Boston University. She holds a BS from Cornell University, an MS from Ohio State University and an MLS from Syracuse University.

Before joining New Directions, Mary was director of development for the National Jobs With Peace Campaign and Armenia Tree Project. She served as communications specialist and fundraiser for Oxfam-America and Physicians for Human Rights. Mary taught English and/or political science at three universities and has extensive background in the performing arts. She holds a BA in Spanish from Boston College and an MA in political science from Northeastern University.
